Your Instructor, Maggie Lucian
Maggie Lucian began her dancing career at Lathrop School of Dance in Newtown CT and has branched out to Monroe Dance Academy and New Milford School of Performing Arts. She taught children's dance classes at Newtown School of Performing Arts and has a Minor in World Dance and a Major in Cultural Anthropology from Southern Connecticut State University.
She dove deeper into the world of Belly Dancing at The JCC of Greater New Haven and has studied at the Middle Eastern Dance Academy of New Haven. The goal of belly dancing is to promote body positivity, healthy body image and confidence. It is an art form that transcends culture and time and its purpose is to bring joy to those that dance and those that spectate.

Do I need any dance experience?
Not at all! This master class is open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced dancers. You’ll be guided step-by-step and supported the whole way through.
Is this more of a workout or a dance class?
A little of both! Belly dance naturally strengthens your core, improves flexibility, and boosts posture. But more than that, it’s about moving with confidence and joy.
Will there be any photos or videos taken?
We’ll offer an optional photo opportunity at the end of class so you can capture the glow of your experience! Participation is completely optional.
What if I feel shy or self-conscious?
That’s completely normal and exactly why this class exists! Belly dance is all about self-expression and body confidence. You’ll be surrounded by a supportive, judgment-free group where everyone’s focused on having fun and feeling good.
What ages can participate?
This workshop is designed for adults of all ages! Belly dance meets you where you are, whether you’re in your 20s or your 60s, you’ll move at your own pace and still feel strong and beautiful.
Do I need to bring my own hip scarf or props?
Nope! A chain hip belt will be provided for you to wear during class so you can fully experience the sparkle, sound, and rhythm of belly dance.
